Philippine sets like this hold an important place in my collection being a Filipino myself. This set is a faithful reproduction of the set used in 1973 Philippine Chess Championship which was a star studded event having graced by late president Ferdinand Marcos Sr. and late chess champion Robert Fischer. It was competed by top grandmasters at that time and won by GM Bent Larsen. The antiquing of this set is excellent and the pieces are weighted just right not too heavy not too light. The pieces while massive (4.2 inch king) is well playable.

Brilliant craftsmanship! Applause for ICC!

This set arrived while I was away. I was anxious to see the set upon my return. It is the second reproduction set I have ordered from ICC. It surpasses the first! I could not be happier with the workmanship, the finishes, and the wonderful reproduction quality. One notable aspect of these is the visible *hand work* in creating these pieces! I appreciate this human (vs ‘machine’) quality. Many thanks and I hope you’ll continue to invest your notable skills continuing this line of reproductions.

1973 Phillipines International Tournament Set

This is an excellent fabulous reproduction set which is accurately being reintroduce by Gurpreet Singh and his team. The pieces are well weighted as the original set are not. It's a great set to be added to my collection. I have played the set in blitz and are well balance. You can feel the pieces robustness and weighting during playing. In all it's a nice set to be owned by the collector.

Bobby Fischer knows best!, His Choice, The Elegant 1973 Philippines Int'l Tournament Set

Many thanks to Gurpreet Singh Khokhar for making this outstanding exact 1973 Philippines International Tournament set reproduction at my request. Interesting history is that Bobby Fischer was the guest of Philippines President Ferdinand Marcos during the tournament and he had Bobby select a set for use in the tournament. He chose this elegant set, and rightfully so! The individual pieces lend to the overall beauty of this set. The unique Bishops standing taller then the Queens. The imposing Knights with their heads pointed upward, the King with the Philippine cross finial and the finely turned rooks and Pawns. The pieces exhibit a fabulous board presence. I can't stop looking at this gorgeous set, also suitable for display. The set is offered in choice of burgandy or green felt bottoms. A wonderful collectiblle historical reproduction suitable for tournament, blitz or home play.
